_Theoretically_, there's a way to do it via an external expansion box 
using a CardBus card to interface to the PowerBook.  This is possible 
because CardBus controllers are bus bridges, devices which connect to 
two or more buses and allow them to talk with each other.  CardBus is 
really a version of PCI, and CardBus controllers speak PCI on one 
side and CardBus on the other.  This makes it possible (at least in 
theory) to hang extra CardBus controllers off of one of the slots in 
the PowerBook.

One company at least used to build a PCI card expansion chassis (for 
full size desktop style PCI cards) for the Wall Street PowerBook G3, 
but it used the PB G3's right hand media bay rather than the CardBus 
slot.  They don't make a version for the current production "101" 
PowerBook G3, because it no longer has a PCI connection in the media 
bay.

I don't know of any company which has tried to make an expansion box 
which supplies extra CardBus (PC Card) slots like I described above.
