When I installed 8.5 and later, 8.5.1 and 8.6 on my PB2400c, it was about
as stable as a paper plane in a thunderstorm. After exhausting all the
software reasons, someone on this list suggested it might be hardware.
Luckily it was still under warranty and replacing the mother board cost
me a train fare and a couple hours of time. Since then, it has become the
fastest, most reliable and LEAST crashing machine I have ever owned. It's
very stable.

If it crashes I know why - things which sometimes bring it down are
Explorer, Kaleidoscope, and certain home made, "Themes."

The moral of the story is do all the software checks you know - and if
that ain't it, there is only one thing left - the hardware. MacOS 8.6
correctly installed on a perfectly functioning 2400c is a great OS,
reliable, fast and very stable.

Yours sincerely,

John Davis
