Tom and Kim,
I think you're hitting a mouse button by mistake and that makes the curser
go to the last place it was when you moused previously, or some such.

Keep your thumbs to yourself and your curser will behave.

Another problem is that sometimes if you have the little guy on your lap
you can hit the lower mouse button with your clothing and that will jump
the curser. I've done that a few times, bent over to reach for something on
a desk and pushed the mouse button because the laptop was where it was
supposed to be, on my lap.
