If when you say "standard", you mean PlainTalk, no it won't work.
A PlainTalk microphone is a mic with a longer connector, because
electricity is supplied to it to power the pre-amp which brings it up to
line level.
I believe if that third connector is not connected, the mac acts at mic
level (amplifies it more) - although THIS item I'm unsure of.
BUT, I'm sure that the PB2400 requires an input at LINE level, and does
not supply electricity OR a pre-amp to get it there.
So, what you need is a microphone that pushes out at line level.
