O.K., this time I hooked my 4.8 Gig IBM IDE drive in my PowerBook Duo 2300 to my 6500 in SCSI Disk Mode. Both computers were running OS 8.6 and were formatted in HFS+. So I quit SCSI disk mode and sure enough, my Duo would not start up on its own -- flashing floppy disk and all! It did start up in my dock with the internal SCSI drive. It was there that I ran Norton Utilities 4.0.4 on it by adding the disk under "add custom disk". Norton got halfway through the repair and then quit for "unknown reasons". When I restarted and tried to run Norton again, I could not find the disk. I could not even see the disk using Apple's Drive Setup could not find the disk to even initialize it! I finally found it using Disk First Aid, but every time I tried to repair it using that, the computer crashed. I finally discovered that by first finding the disk using Disk First Aid, I could then find it under Norton Utilities and Drive Setup. But I could still not repair it.
