Sounds like a good "front" idea to me!

People have said on this forum before that the fan is primarily there to cool
an internal HD and Nubus cards (possibly the souped-up video card and Ethernet
as well?). If this is indeed the case, you theoretically could spin down the HD
and while you can't put the computer to sleep in the dock, by spinning down the
HD and doing nothing on the computer, there should be very little going on to
create the need to cool. So my vote is to install that switch (I may even do it
myself). Just don't forget to turn it back on.
