hi,

another mac list referred me here...hope someone can help me!

i just inherited a PB Duo 2300 with minidock, duo dock, LaCie CD-R drive, plus
other stuff.

i've been having many problems with the scsi chain. Tried hooking up a Zip
drive and the LaCie Drive. Also have another Panasonic portable CD drive I
tried putting on the chain. Once or twice I got it all to work but when I shut
down or restarted, the cd drives never worked again. Almost always the Zip
worked fine...even with the cd drive on the chain.

My current problem seemed to have happened after I reinstalled the LaCie drive
software and successfully got the drive to mount. I left the computer on
overnight and in the morning the desktop was gone. Most of it anyway. It was
frozen so I had to shut down. After that the PB would not restart. I get the
initial start up chimes but nothing else happens. The drive does not attempt
to start as far as i can tell. Tried hooking it up directly into a wall
outlet, with just the minidock, back in the duodock, without any scsi devices.

Is it time to find a Mac technician or is there something else i can do to fix
this myself? I really have no idea what it could be. I can't believe the drive
is dead. it made no unusual sounds or anything like that prior to this failure.

thanks in advance for any help/tips!

Carrie
