I've been using a ricochet on and off since 1995 on everything from a
Duo, to a Newton, to various desktops, to my 2400.

Connection stability: Stay under 60mph. =)
Otherwise it should be fine if you have a strong signal while
stationary anywhere in the Seattle area.

Which model modem did you buy?
I've used all 3.
I have an SX now (slim model.)
The SE gives much more user feedback via it's LCD screen, but it is
quite heavy for velcro-ing to the lid of a sub-note like a duo or
2400.
Signal strength and speed is the same for all.

Battery life is excellent.
In fact it beats any laptop my a factor of 3 to 5. I go so long
between charges that I frequently find myself witha dead ricochet
miles from my AC adapter, 'cause I leave it at home.
Just remeber to turn it off when not in use.

Browser?
I use Netscrape. ...and sometimes Wannabe. I hate the fact that
Exploder loads up your system folder with extensions, so I avoid it
like the plague. I should probably try iCab again now that it is
"released."

I love my Ricochet! It was one of the things I missed most when I was
living overseas in 97/98... along with sub $4-a-gallon gasoline
(whenever I get sticker shock at the current prices I recall paying
$75 to fill a small car's tank in the UK.) Why *anyone* would use a
cellphone/GSM/CDPD/etc to access the net with this alternative
available is beyond me.

I have found ricochet to work all over the bay area, NYC and parts of LA too.

Did I mention I bought MCOM a few years ago at $7 a share. =)
