Not sure if this helps, but I sussed out a serial prob recently.
I run a 20" cutter/plotter off the Duo, (like a big printer)
and the SignMate app that drives it would quit
while loading every now and then. Trashing prefs worked
okay but that was a PITA.
I've since learned that the state of the serial port gets
written to the prefs when you quit this app. It reads these
prefs when it starts again, and it seems that the app is just
not "smart" enough to deal with a different serial state.
If/so, down it goes.
IOW, if I quit SignMate with the cutter still on and plugged in,
then restart SignMate with cutter off and unplugged,
SignMate will crash every time.
>application "unknown" has quit blahblah...<
So, now, the hardware is off before I start or quit any app,
and I have no serial problem. Like I said, I'm not sure if this
helps, but I'm so proud of myself for catching this, I thought
I'd broadcast it.
I also just learned to not put the AC adapter on top of
the Zip drive. Put a disc in like that,
and the Zip goes
TAKAK TAKAK TAKAK TAKAK
until you take the adapter off of it.
What is that, Dueling Fields?
