Hi,
I posted this to the list a while ago, but maybe you missed it...
----- begin quote -----
Duo 230 with internal Express Modem and GB DAA.
British System 7.5.3
British Express Modem & Fax software version 1.5.4
Open Transport 1.1
FreePPP 2.6.2
The Express Modem control panel is set to "Use External Modem" (the default
I believe)
In FreePPP Setup I have created a new modem configuration called "Express
Modem" which I have configured as follows:
Connected to: Internal Modem
Port Speed: 57600 bps
Flow Control: CTS & RTS (DTR)
Dial Type: Tone
Speaker enabled: No
Hangup on disconnect: Yes
Performa internal modem: No
Long re-dial delay: No
Fast modem initialization: No
Modem init string settings:
Use: ATD&FM0
It seems to be the initialisation string that is the key to all of this and
this could probably be reduced to ATD&F (ATtention, Dial using default
Factory profile). The M0 simply disables the speaker, omitting this is the
same as M1 (default) which turns on the speaker until carrier is
established.

Subject: [Duo] Expresss Modem init
What is a good init string for FreePPP 2.6.2 for the Express Modem in
a 280c running OS 7.6.1?
