I hope this story isn't inappropriate for the list, but I thought you
all should know about a problem I had with the highly recommended
DT&T in fremont:

I shipped DT&T my 2400 which wouldn't boot up, since they come so
highly recommended for quality, low priced service, especially logic
board replacement.

DT&T said the logic board (and PRAM) were fine, but found that the G3
chip was bad. They traded it with Newer for a working one. I told
them that I was worried that there was more going on than a bad chip,
and asked them to test it out for a while before sending it back.
They told me it was fine and sent it back.

I paid a hefty extra for Saturday delivery, and when it arrived on
Saturday, I found that they'd forgotten to include my power supply.
So I couldn't use it for the weekend. I called on Monday, and Tim,
the DT&T customer service guy, said he would do me "a favor" and send
me the power supply free of charge.

Tuesday rolls around, and I find they've sent the wrong type of power
supply - it's a 45 Watt supply. I've heard they're compatible, but I
didn't want to risk it. Even if it is compatible, it's much bigger
than the 2400's power supply, so it would be harder to cram into my
wetsuit. I haven't had a chance to call DT&T back yet, but now I
imagine I've got to pay to send them back their power supply, and
hopefully they'll do me another favor and send back the correct one.

But that's not all - I borrowed a 2400 power supply today and booted
up my computer. Then it died again.

Does anyone have suggestions for dealing with this? Is this a
situation where I should just lower my standards?

Alex
