I use on long trips, airplanes, or trains, a battery pack that I also use for 
my video camera...it's a high capacity heavy battery that fits inside a nice 
carry bag, with a regular car cigarette lighter outlet at one end that I use 
with the car adapter I have for the 2400c.
Works like a charm, but if I could, I'd rather have a few internal batteries 
for that unit instead, since it's easier to carry and cleaner to use.

but for sure that is one very viable alternative......good luck
