You can do some stupid things, and you can do some really stupid things :-)

I recently bought a PB 230 Duo for about USD 60. It included a type 3
battery, but no AC-adaptor. I haven't been able to charge the battery as
yet. (I believe I need some extension for that, the 230 been shipped
originally only with the type 1 battery). I also got a duo-dock for USD 10.
It worked fine in the dock, I installed MacOS 7.5.5.
But what use is a portable, if you can only use it on your desk, so I
started fiddling with power-supplies, attaching a 12 V supply, with no
result (predictably). It being one of those supplies where you can quite
easily change polarity, I decided to do just that...
You have to learn some way, don't you.

The result : when I start up the computer in the dock, I get the normal
start up chime (boing), the screen turns grey, and when you would normally
get the disk icon, everything stops.

Anybody got an idea ?
AFAIK, the boing indicates that the hardware is OK.
Is it just the RAM ? If so, is there any way to replace them ? I believe
they're soldered to the board.
Or should I just replace the whole board ?
Anybody has an idea where to get one second hand in Europe (Belgium, ...) ?

Thanks.
