Hi Mark,

All batteries, even the Li-Ions have a finite lifespan, primarily 
governed by the number of times they are  recharged.  What I've not 
been able to determine is whether a slow discharge from sitting on 
the shelf counts as one charging cycle or impacts life cycle in some 
other manner.

FWIW, I tend to just swap out my two batteries every 2-4 weeks, 
mostly because it makes me feel good. :-)

Any battery engineers or web research analysts out there?
