On 6 April, I returned my beloved 2400 to Apple for repair. My Apple Care
contract expires on 29 April and I thought that would give me enough time to
send it back in one more time under contract. Symptoms were that the original
battery was not recognized at all and the spare battery worked, but the 2400
would shut down unannounced with over 50% battery life remaining and not boot
until plugged in. Had sent it to Apple in November when no battery was
recognized.

Now, Apple has no idea when and if my 2400 is coming back. It was on a tech's
bench a few weeks back. Theh Apple changed repair facilities and everything
seems to have come undone. They claim there is a huge move induced backlog
and have no idea what's going on, what's wrong with the 2400 and if it can be
fixed.

Does any lister have any notion of what's going on with repairs these days. I
am leaving the country for business (for 16 days) and don't want to go out
and buy another machine 'specially since Apple only makes iBook and PowerBook
boat anchors and I don't want commit to the dark side any more than I already
have.
