I was just passing on information I've heard. Since I have a G.V. modem I have
not tested this issue, Although I am running the G.V. modem just fine on my
2300
under OS 8.6 (which I have also heard is not compatible past OS 8.1). If there
was a compatibility problem with the Apple Modem software past OS 8.1, perhaps
they have fixed it under OS 9, or perhaps the 2300 did not have this
compatibility problem?

In any event, I don't think the absence of the Apple or G.V. software would
render the modem useless. Correct me if I'm wrong, but aren't there generic
modem
applications out there that can use any modem as long as the modem scripts are
configured properly?
