Question #212302 on Duplicity changed:
https://answers.launchpad.net/duplicity/+question/212302

    Status: Answered => Solved

Keith Cornwell confirmed that the question is solved:
I removed the ubuntu package and installed the tarball from here:
http://code.launchpad.net/duplicity/0.6-series/0.6.19/+download/duplicity-0.6.19.tar.gz

However, it turns out that I've caused my own problem. I had something
else running that would unmount the target filesystem. Doh!

Once I stopped that, duplicity completed the backup.

Thank you for your help.
