main concern for me is to have a "stable" version, to point users to if they stumble over a showstopper after Mike's reworks. that can be 0.6.24 i wonder if it'd make sense to also exclude all the other modifications Mike in his current run (since drop-pexpect) as they may also contain some side effects that may be better kept in 0.7dev.
