Thank you for your explanations. So I see the potential for developing a
PyPI repository when resources are available or I know the launchpad
better.
youtube-dl is not connected with duplicity, but it's example software
distributed mostly through pypi. Frequent changes in data providers,
including YouTube, have resulted in ineffective software delivery by the
operating system repository.
