New question #659542 on Duplicity:
https://answers.launchpad.net/duplicity/+question/659542

I have a single, very large full backup on an external hard drive, which seems
to be able to restore on the origin workstation it was made on, but other
machines say there's no backup chain. I'm trying to get to the bottom of the
issue, and have a couple of theories:

1. The backup is missing the signature and manifest files. The origin machine
has a manifest.part and sigtar.part file that match the date and name for that
backup in the deja-dup cache folder (~/.cache/deja-dup/); is it possible that
these partial files would be giving duplicity enough information to restore the
backup?

2. The source machine is running Debian 7 (wheezy) with duplicity version
0.6.18, while the other machines I tried to restore to are running Debian 8
(jessie)/duplicity 0.6.24 or Ubuntu 14.04 (trusty tahr)/duplicity 0.6.23. Could
these version or os mismatches somehow prevent duplicity from finding the
backup chain?

My goal is to be able to restore the backup one of the non-source computers.

Thanks for your help!
