When first installing duplicity it is possible to click the "Backup Now..." button in the GUI without there being any storage configured. The default is Google but there would be no configuration so the backup just stops at "waiting for Google to be configured in your backup settings...". May I suggest that there is a time out after say 30 seconds if the target for the backup can not be found?
