Follow-up Comment #1, bug #21792 (project duplicity):
I do not know about this particular problem, or whether it has been fixed,
but several changes have been made since 0.4.3. 0.4.7 is the latest release;
it may be worth trying that.
What's the file limit you're running with (uname -a)?
Are you backing up something which is extreme in some way (huge number of
files, huge amounts of data, etc) that might be the triggering factor?
