Details:
I just spent two days wrestling with duplicity while it gave me cryptic
messages. I think most of these messages were due to specifying the wrong
--archive-dir option (see https://savannah.nongnu.org/bugs/?25623). Duplicity
should store some unique identifier in archive directories that associates
them positively with a backup folder in the backend, and should give a helpful
error message when they don't match up.
More generally, as I googled about looking for answers, I saw a lot of people
in essentially my same boat: facing a cryptic error message that doesn't bear
any clear relationship to what the user needs to do to fix the problem. So I
think a general pass over these errors is warranted. You might just google
'duplicity traceback' to get an idea.
Thanks for otherwise great software!
