I haven't read the page, and I apologize for not going to find it, but I'm running late this morning and wanted to say this before I forgot about it....
If/when that's implemented, PLEASE do not auto-detect my mobile device and force me to a site-chosen scheme without giving me a way to get out of it and stay out of it. Fully 75% of the sites that do that look appallingly awful to me and become harder to use than if I had to scroll. My current scheme on LJ (for example) displays just fine on my iPhone. I have actually stopped using some sites because of their "helpful" scheme that they force me into on my iPhone, if it's not sufficiently easy to get out of it. What would be nice is the ability to do that if the user wants, but some way (cookie, account setting, whatever - I favor cookie in case multiple devices are involved) to break out of it. Bonus points if per-journal or per-client or per-something, you can specify a custom mobile style if you want, as I can think of things that would make it more readable, but I don't find the "traditional" mobile styles very readable/usable. I'm pretty sure DW could do better than the horrifically bad (IMO) Amazon iPhone appearance (with its very hidden option to get out of it - it exists, and I can almost never find it), but it's still not likely to successfully be all things to all people. -Laura/Kyrielle At 05:00 AM 4/9/2009, you wrote: >- The wiki page talks about detecting mobile browsers, but might it be >simpler to create a mobile app or mobile browser add-on that simply >imposes format=light over all dw pages?
