Hello everyone,

I was recently pointed to Dreamwidth by a friend and am really excited by
what you are doing. I've had a running "LJ feature wishlist" in the back of
my head for quite some time and it seems like DW has addressed/acknowledged
all of the items on my list, except for two things. (I've browsed the
mailing list archives and wiki and didn't notice any discussion of these
topics, but apologies in advance if these have already been adressed). I
was just wondering if there are any plans in place to implement either of
the following at any point:

1. Content Search
Frequently when composing posts I want to link to a relevant post I wrote in
the past. As far as I can tell, LJ does not currently support content
search, so finding a specific post that I wrote in the past is usually quite
difficult. My current strategy is to first use the calendar view to see all
of the post titles in the timeframe I think I authored my post. (I've
quickly learned that consistent, descriptive post titles are integral to
this strategy.) If I can't find the desired post that way, then I view
recent entries, search the page for a relevent keyword, and if there's no
match I hit "Previous 20" and repeat. Needless to say, this is extremely
cumbersome and time consuming.

Ideally, there would be a Content Search feature that would allow me to:
1. Allow/ban robots from searching the content of my posts (LJ already
implements this)
2. Let me search the content of my own posts
3. Let me specify whether none of my friends, all of my friends, some
filters/subset of my friends, or everyone can search the content of my posts
4. Bonus points if this is extended to comments I've authored as well

2. Publish-time Modification of Friends Filters
I often run into the situation where I want a post to be visible to a
specific friends filter, plus or minus a couple of other people. What I have
to do now on LJ is create a new filter specific to that post containing the
people who I want the post to be visible to. This is incredibly inefficient,
both in terms of time and UI space – currently my list of custom filters is
clogged with ~20 "one time" filters. A more efficient solution would be to
have a drop down box that allows you to modify the set of people specified
by the custom filters you've selected for the post. For example, when
setting the visibility of a post, I want to be able to click the checkboxes
for filters "Group A", "Group B", "Group C", and then use a dropdown box
containing all of my friends with checkboxes next to their usernames that
allows me add or remove specific people from the post.

I know everyone must be really busy right now, so I really appreciate any
time you can spare to let me know if there are plans to implement features
like this. I'm really looking forward to aquiring a DW account tomorrow!

Cheers,
Seema
