You can switch to the four modes with the default keys: mod-h for horizontal mod-v for vertical mod-f for floating mod-m for monocle Pressing one of these again sends you back to the mode you were just at. I find this invaluable as occasionally I move into floating mode and dont want to be there, so I merely have to hit mod-f again and I'm back to wherever I was (generally tilev). It's also good if you toggle quite a bit. So in short, yes, it's the intended behaviour. -- Samuel Baldwin
