I reverted the old spawn in the 5.3.1 release I'm currently uploading, until this issue gets sorted. But this proofs again never change a running system, especially I believe we experienced exactly the same 4 years ago when we switched back and forth to double-forks and signal handlers. Unix is a mess... ;)
