[dwm] xsetroot/status scripting using rc shell?

Maybe a silly question, but is any p9p user out there able to set the
statusbar text with xsetroot using rc(1)?

The following don't seem to work:

xsetroot -name `{SCRIPT}
xsetroot -name "`{SCRIPT}"
xsetroot -name "(`{SCRIPT})"
