I know most of this discussion about new countries has been done
tongue-in-cheek let's consider another thread, Native American Nations.

The last part of a domain name (com, org, etc) is called a Top
Level Domain (TLD) There is a test required to obtain a .gov TLD. There
are five categories and number two is:

Federally recognized Indian Tribes (-NSN.GOV domain)

The administration of .gov is the US government General Services
Administration (GSA) http://www.nic.gov/index.html So an official US
government agency recognizes that Indian tribes are different.

For those not in the US, Native American Indian tribes are considered
"Indian Nations" and they are largely exempt for existing national and state
laws. The biggest example is their ability to set up a gambling casino that is
exempt for most or the controls of state regulations including taxation.

I frankly don't see any difference between the land controlled by the
Indians and the Vatican (or Mt. Athos) and the SMOM.

There are a lot of tribes so I one get approved the could easily be
a hundred or more. I would think a tribe owning a casino and hotel would
be ecstatic to have the publicity a new country application would generate.
Do I hear any volunteers to for and DXpedition to Foxwood?
