Here is a LISTENERS report (not a tech report) on the ICOM 756 PRO2, MARK 5 and MP:
Stock radios, Mk 5 just back from factory service and Pro2 brand new. Instant sw of same antenna, adjustments of all knobs for seemingly best performance on all radios. Retired NASA grad engineer and me working the controls and me doing same with us both taking turns with all rigs. Tests on 40 and 20, CW and SSB.

Mk5 and MP fully crystalled up with INRADs. 70 MHz INRAD mod done on MP. otherwise nothing done.

The Pro 2 showed definite superiority in receive sensitivity on very weak CW signals, often hearing copy-able CW when other two radios heard nothing. Extensive playing with Pro 2 DSP noise reduction and use of more reduction than one would think, showed good performance beyond expectations.

However, all three rigs tested same on weak signal SSB, maybe because Pro 2 DSP could not be cranked in so far as CW because SSB readability was soon lost when control was advanced.

Could dectect no weak signal performance difference between Mk5 and MP.

Decided not to unpack the FT-1000 D this time to test it. For what it is worth..... 73, Charly
