Dear Mr. Shrader, [Note: Mr. Shrader is W1MCE]
Thank you for your interest in broadband over powerline issues. We regret that the Commissioner's remarks may have been interpreted as suggesting an absence of concern over harmful interference. The Commissioner's primary point was that, from a policy perspective, she is keenly interested in seeing multiple broadband platforms develop, to promote the goals of facilities-based competition and broadband deployment. She did not intend to suggest that broadband over powerline necessarily will emerge as a viable platform, or that it does not present interference issues. In fact, she went out of her way to note that the Commission must ensure that BPL and all new technologies avoid causing harmful interference to licensed RF users. That is a bedrock position for Commissioner Abernathy, and we regret if it was not made sufficiently clear.
Sincerely, Matthew A. Brill Senior Legal Adviser to Commissioner Abernathy

RE: BPL Comments. In the public interest you are obligated to protect FCC licensed services in the HF/VHF portion of the spectrum.
Studies and Tests confirm that BPL, as described to the HF/VHF community will increase background noise levels by 30 to 60 dB. Is this protecting licensed services? ------------------------------------------------------------ Server protocol: HTTP/1.1 Remote host: 24.34.70.11 Remote IP address: 24.34.70.11
