Hello friends,

As you probably already know, Miguel (Mike) EA5IK will be working from Guinea Bissau for 15 days, starting  the 13th of september. He will travel with his ICOM IC706MKIIG with a tuner and a switching power supply.

He will take with him some wires to make some antennas for all the bands from 6 to 80 meters. All this will be carried in a computer transport bag.

He will not have any extra expenses to do this, apart from the materials themselves because  the main reason for Miguel to travel to Bissau is to start a Practical School of  Carpentry sponsored by the ONG ANAWIN and the TownHall of the city where we live, Elche, the place where Miguel works.

Miguel will not request economical help for this mission but he wants you to know that all the remaining money after asking the QSL direct way by anyone, will be directly transfered to his project. The Lynx DX Group has sponsored license's fee.

SHORT MEMORY

Some high-ranking officials from the Town Hall of Elche were asking Miguel about the possibility of  developing a Practical School of Carpentry in the north of Bissau, and information about  the personnal and machinery required to do this project.

A group of five ophthalmologists will be traveling with Miguel with a complete set of surgery needed to help the people of the area.

As far as I know him, I can say  Miguel is an unsurpassable person doing his job, as well as a great operator in his spare time.  For all this I am sure he will get the personal satisfaction he is looking for, he will give a  great help to the people of Bissau  and also he will bring for sure some new one to all of us who are taking care of his activity on HF.

Thirteen vaccines are needed to enter the country, to avoid contagious diseases and also a visa of 30 days (for a cost of only 60 euros).

As soon as he arrives in Bissau, Miguel will pick up his callsign from PTT. After that will travel by bus to the North of the country, crossing a huge river using (still) a pulley barge.

His QTH will be a few kilometers from the Senegal border.

There is no any other way of communication in the place, apart from his small Icom and the electricity power will be produced with a generator.

WHY?

You have to know Miguel to understand  why. He will give every thing for nothing. Thats his Bible. He told me that he will earn the same money staying here than going there, he will not get an extra salary for this, but only a few people can get the satisfaction he will gain in this trip.

When you exchange the 59, Miguel will have already helped a lot of people to improve their lives, a lot of people like ourselves, who have to live and work depending of their own resources, and over there in Bissau that is not that easy.

BON VOYAGE!
