06/12/2003:  Look for Francois, F5JNE/p, to be QRV December 6th from the
Chateau Les Jolis Vaux (DFCF reference 89.248 for the French Castles
Award), Commune de Bussy le Repos (DDCF reference 89.37. QSL via home

06/12/2003:  Vlad, UA4WHX, will be QRV December 6th to 9th as FO/AC4LN
from Atuona Island, Marquesas Islands (OC-027). QSL to home call. [Tnx

06/12/2003:  Please join the USS Hornet on December 6th and 7th as they
honor the Heroes of Pearl Harbor! They will begin operations December
6th at 0900 PST and they will be on the air until 1700 PST December 7th.
SSB frequencies will be 3.857, 7.260, 14.260, 21.360 and 28.460 MHz.
(Please note the change in some frequencies from their previous events.)
CW frequencies will be 3.530, 7.030, 14.030, 21.030 and 28.030 MHz. RTTY
Frequencies will be announced on the SSB frequencies. For IRLP you may
find them on the Western Reflector Subchannel 1. Or 9251. They will use
the call NB6GC. QSL info is good at QRZ.com. The Pearl Harbor Day event
is the only time during the year that the USS Hornet issues their
special Pearl Harbor QSL card. You must contact the ship to obtain one.
All QSL Packages for this event will contain this special QSL card. [Tnx

07/12/2003:  Look for Marcel, F5NII/p, to be QRV December 7th from The
Earls Castle (DFCF reference 89.249, for the French Castles Award), in
Dracy, Yonne department, Gurgondy (canton reference 9833). QSL via the

09/12/2003:  Steve, G0UIH, reports he will be active again as VK2IAY/4
between November 21st and December 21st. Exact itinery is yet to be
finalised, but the following activations are in the initial stages of
planning: Dunk Island (OC-171) around 9 December for 5 days and Lamb
Island (OC-137) December 16th to 18th. QSL via G0UIH either direct or

10/12/2003:  Vlad, UA4WHX, will be QRV December 10th to 12th from Rurutu
Island (DIFO FO-125), Austral Islands (IOTA OC-050). QSL to home call.

13/12/2003:  Look for Dov, 4Z4DX/m, and Eli, 4Z5NB, to be QRV December
13, 2003, from various grid squares in Southern Israel, for the Holyland
award. Activity will be all day, starting at 04:00 UTC on 14.265 MHz.

13/12/2003:  The A.C.R.A Guadeloupe ARS will be QRV as TO7ACR on
December 13th and 14th from the islet of Gosier (IOTA NA-102, DIFO
FG-016, LH 0142, WAZ-08) and Lighthouse (WLHA LH-0142, ARLHS GUA-001.
Activity will be on 160 through 6 meter SSB and CW. QSL via operator's

15/12/2003:  Mike, G4IUF, will be back to the Galapagos Islands (SA-004)
from December 15th until January 11th. He will operate as G4IUF/HC8 on
160 through 10 meter SSB and CW, with a better LF antenna if he can get

16/12/2003:  Steve, G0UIH, reports he will be active again as VK2IAY/4
from Lamb Island (OC-137) December 16th to 18th. QSL via G0UIH either

15/12/2003:  An international team of 20 well-known operators will be
active as T33C from Banaba Island (OC-018) during the first two weeks of
April, 2004. Six HF stations, three on CW and three on SSB, plus a
separate 6m station and separate HF digital mode station are planned,
with at least six high power amplifiers. They will be active from 160
through 6 meter CW, SSB, RTTY, PSK and some SSTV. If sufficient interest
in satellite contacts is generated, this may be added. QSL via F5CWU,
either direct (Flo Moudar, 25 Rue du Castel Salis, 37100 Tours, France)

17/12/2003:  Jose, ON4LAC, will be QRV as 3B8/ON4LAC from Mauritius
(AF-049) between December 17th and 27th. He plans to be QRV on SSB, RTTY
and PSK31. QSL via home call. [Tnx 425DXN]

20/12/2003:  Jim Buffington, K5JIM (ARLHS member #150), has announced
plans to activate two Louisiana lighthouses, both of them in the New
Orleans area, on the opening day of Lighthouse Christmas Lights. The
pair includes New Canal Lighthouse (ARLHS USA-536) and Port Ponchartrain
(ARLHS USA-650). These will mark the 13th and 14th activations of 2003
for Jim. Tentative time of operation for New Canal is 15:00 UTC on
Saturday, December 20 for two hours ... with the Port Ponchartrain
operation PROBABLY beginning at 18:00 UTC. Both lighthouses are on Lake
Ponchartrain. QSL cards will be available for an SASE via K5JIM's QRZ

20/12/2003:  Deacon Dave, W1MCE/m (ARLHS member #492), will be
activating Portsmouth Harbor New Hampshire (ARLHS USA-662, during
Lighthouse Christmas Lights. Date unknown but will be on 40 then 20
meters from the mobile. Total operating schedule is hoped to be 3 hours
each day on 2 different days. He has a 1 1/2 hour commute to get there.
All QSOs will be QSL'd automatically. Please don't send Deacon Dave any
