Hey hey DXers..... here is DX news from VU4 for Dec. 21....

First off, I am so happy that the stomach attack I got at midnight last night has mostly moved on out..... There are some fine business spicy foods over here !!!!

1. VU4 team is getting some nice public attention from India news outlets. We are keeping clippings for the NIAR web site later. Sri, no downloads of pics from the computer here... wait for after we get to a fast mainland connection.

2. VU4RBI is on the air with only Bharathi at the mic/key. The other team members are jointly using VU4NRO... so u will see more than one NRO on the air at a time, but only one RBI.

3. I will again relay the need for 40m when USA is in the dark.

4. Absolutely no skeds nor "in the log" confirmations can be done during the operations here. I am sure u can imagine why due to the huge demand. There are only 9 people here, three on the air always, 4 putting up antennas or keeping them up or changing them for the better, and Mr. Suri and me working the newspapers and photos. There are two young India guys here doing lots of the vy hard lifting work who are SWLs with aspirations for a VU ticket someday... great guys that never give up!

5. Changes in sig strength? .... could be the ants swinging in the tropical wind or just weird prop.

6. The roof access on the college dorm where Saraha is located is via a very long (3 stories) metal ladder that appears made for bird weight, not man weight. I will not dare it. However up there went the WARC Cushcraft yagi (thanks donors). It should be barking FB by now.

7. There is some doubt that 30 m xmissions are allowed. I did not understand the conversation about this issue and hope to get more on this item for tomorrow's info. The team speaks in a local language among themselves.

8. WAIT WAIT WAIT to send QSLs .... plans are still in the making to have an India adr, and one in JA and one in USA, at least. News will come here asap.

9. Donations are continuing to be possible via three methods.... two methods are explained on the NIAR web site and one is via K4VUD, 3100 N. Hwy. 426, Geneva, FL 32732 USA. THERE IS NO DOLLAR LIMIT ON DONATIONS.... WE HAVE RECEIVED GLADLY ONE DOLLAR AND MANY OF LARGER AMOUNTS...THERE IS NO LOWER LIMIT ON DOLLAR DONATIONS (not $100, for example).

Weather here has been uniformly mild and sunny with nice ocean breezes all the time. Electricity has been on about 98% of the time. Local travel on the Island is by some remarkably old taxis, three wheel gismos that are called "autorickshaws" here, motor bike, and then there are monster trucks that dominate the whole of the one lane roads out of the city!

Keep listening, keep calling only when called, and thanks for your patience..... 73,

Charles Harpole
