For those of you who were wondering what happened to Lanny W5BOS on his recent planned operation from NA-121 the following is a copy of a message received by Roger G3KMA from Jeff K5JP.
>Hi: I'm Jeff Poll - K5JP in Dallas and I wanted to let you know that I just heard from Lanny, W5BOS. As I write this at 0125 UTC Thursday he is in Dillingham AK on his way back to Dallas. He will arrive here early Friday morning. It seems that Lanny set up Monday night and managed to make 2 Q's before his receiver died. He was tired and called it a night hoping to figure out the problem Tuesday morning. Well, he turned on the radio Tuesday and black poured out of the radio. End of story. Lanny has spent the past 36 hours touring Walrus Island with a crew from The National Geographic Society. I would appreciate your passing this information on to the IOTA folks who were hoping to make a contact with Lanny. Thanks for your help.
