08/18/2002:  The Chatelleraud Radio Club (Vienne department number 86) will
activate special event station TM2CMM from August 18th to September 1st to
celebrate the World Championships for hot-air balloons. Frequencies: 1.846,
3.786, 7.086, 14.186, 18.146, 21.286, 24.946, 28.486, 50.216 and 144.286 MHz
+/- QRM. QSL to F5KOK via bureau.

08/18/2002:  Look for Gilles, VE2MAM/p, to be active on 10-20 metres SSB
from Grande Basque Island (NA-125, Zone 2) between August 18 and 22, 2002.
QSL via home call either direct or through the bureau.

08/19/2002:  Mike, 9A3JB/p, will be active August 19 to September 6, 2002,
(on 40-6 metres CW and SSB) from Murter Island (not IOTA, IOCA CI-074). QSL
via bureau.

08/19/2002:  Henry, K4LMY, expects to return to Saba Island (NA-145) for the
week of August 19 through August 24, 2002, as PJ6/K4LMY. Activity will be
10:00 to 12:00 UTC each morning and maybe other times. Listen for Henry on
14.260 / 21.260 MHz. QSL via home call, direct (Henry N. Hassell, 17251

08/19/2002:  Look for RK3DZJ/1 to be active from RR-02-28 (new one for RRA)
August 19, 2002. Length of stay is unknown at this time. QSL via RA3DEJ.

08/20/2002:  Roberto, EA4DX, reports that everything is a go for a
DXpedition to Providencia Island (NA-049) between August 20th and 30th. He
reports that the callsign issued was HK0/EA4DX. Like in past years he will
be single operator only SSB working round the clock giving all areas chances
in all bands. Please do not make excesive duplicates since this behavior
reduces the opportunity for others. Equipment includes Yagi for
10-12-15-17-20, Vertical 40-80, Kenwood TS50 and 1KW. Frequencies: 3799,
7045, 14195, 18135, 21295, 24935 and 28395 (split operation..please follow
operator instructions!). Roberto's main goal this year .. +20,000 qsos in 10
days of operation .. Please help him because without your QSOs He'll not be
able to achieve this target. Qsl's Direct only with SAE + US$ or IRC via
EA4DX. DXpedition pilots will be JI6KVR for JA and EA5BY and EA5FID for the
rest of the world.

08/20/2002:  Depending on the weather situation Vic, UA6AF/0, plans to
activate an island in the AS-044 or AS-114 group between August 20 and
September 2, 2002. QSL direct via G0KBO or via bureau to UA6AF.

08/21/2002:  Emanuela, IZ2ELV, will operate (on 10 and 20 metres SSB with a
dipole) as 8Q7LY from Velavaru, Maldives (AS-013) between August 21st and
31st. QSL via bureau to her home call.

08/21/2002:  Look for IA5/DL5SAX to be active from the Tuscany Island Group
(EU-028) between August 21 and September 4, 2002. QSL via home call.

08/21/2002:  Arthur, ZL2HE, will sign YJ0HE from Vanuatu (OC-035) between
August 21 and September 2, 2002. Operation will be 160 through 10 meters.
QSL via ZL2HE.

08/23/2002:  Operators Nikolay/LZ1NK, Llian/LZ1CNN, Zdravka/LZ1ZQ and LZ4MA
will use the special prefixes and callsigns TB05GF and YM05GF to activate
Gokceada Island (EU-186) from August 23rd to 26th. Suggested frequencies
are: CW: 3520, 7020, 10105, 14020, 18075, 21020 and 28020 kHz; SSB: 3780,
7050, 14250, 18125, 21250 and 28550 kHz. QSL via LZ1NK: Nikolay Enchev,
Parchevich 43 A, 4300 Karlovo, Bulgaria.

08/23/2002:  Trevor, VK7TS will be active August 23 to September 6, 2002, as
VK7TS/4 from Magnetic Island (OC-171). Operation will be on 40 through 10
metres, mainly SSB. QSL to VK7TS either direct (Trevor Spargo, 1 Roebourne
Rd, Otago, Tasmania, Australia 7017) or via the bureau.

08/24/2002:  Members of the Bahia Blanca DX Group will activate Recalada
Lighthouse (ARG-009), August 24th to 25th. Operators will be AY7DSY, LU8DWR,
LU9ESD, LU8EBK and LU6EPR.

08/24/2002:  Look for TK/DL2RVL to be active from Corsica (EU-014) between
August 24th and September 14th. He will be running QRP. QSL via home call.

08/24/2002:  REF members from the l'Aude department (11) will be active
August 24 and 25, 2002, from the old Cathare Castle of Peyrepertuse, for the
French Castles Award (DFCF). Callsign will be TM3P. Operation will be on 40
and 20 meters, CW and SSB, as well as VHF. For a special QSL card, QSL via
F6KKH.

08/24/2002:  Vlad/UY0UY, Nick/UX7UN, Andre/UX1UF and Vlad/UT5UKY will be
active as UT4UZA/p from Letnik Island (reference DE-01 for the Ukrainian
Islands Award) August 24, 2002. On August 25, 2002, they plan to operate
from a new island valid for the Ukrainian Islands Award programme. QSL via
UX7UN.

08/24/2002:  Six operators (namely Sardjana/YC2ECG, Faozan/YD2JWM,
Budi/YD2OEH, Yanto/YD2CJQ, Andy/YD2KVU and Rivai/YB2MTA) will be active as
YE2R from Karimunjawa (OC-186) between August 28th and September 3rd. They
will operate on 15 and 10 metres (maybe on 17 metres as well) SSB and CW
with two beams (one for Europe and Africa and the other for North and South
America) for SSB and an inverted V for CW and 17m. They expect to have three
active at the same time and to be QRV for 12-18 hours a day. QSL direct only
via YB2MTA.

08/25/2002:  Hirotada, JA0SC, will be active as VK9CI from Cocos-Keeling
(OC-003) between August 25th and 29th. He plans to operate mainly on 15
metres SSTV and RTTY with 200 watts and a mono bander. QSL via JA0SC
(Hirotada Yoshiike, 722-1 Shiba Matsushiro-cyo, Nagano-city 381-1214,
Japan).

08/25/2002:  Bob/N2OO, Beth/KF2BQ and Skip/N1IBM will operate as N2CW/3 from
Smith Island (NA-140, USI MD-003S, Somerset County), Maryland, between
August 26th and September 2nd. Look for them on +/- 7180, 14280, 18140,
21280 kHz SSB and CW around .025 on each band. QSL via N2CW or N2OO either
direct (same address: P.O. Box 345, Tuckerton, NJ 08087, USA) or through the
bureau.

08/26/2002:  Osamu, JA2VUP, is expected to be active as AH0B from Saipan
Island (OC-086) from September 26-29th. Activity will include participation
in the CQ/RJ Worldwide DX Contest (RTTY - September 28-29th) as a Single
Op/All Band entry. He will focus on the WARC bands and PSK31 before the
contest. QSL via JA2VUP.

08/27/2002:  Franco, IK4DCS/p, plans to be active August 26th from Torre di
Cavatore (DCI reference AL-063 for the Italian Castles Award). Torre di
Cavatore is located in Piemonte Region, Province of Alessandria. QSL via
home call, direct or bureau.

08/28/2002:  Dean, 8P6SH, will be active as 8P2K, from Barbados (NA-021), in
the CQ/RJ Worldwide DX Contest (RTTY - September 28-29) possibly as a Single
Op/All Band or Single Op/Single Band (15 meters) entry. QSL via KU9C.

08/28/2002:  Robert, N5KO, and others are expected to be active from the
Galapagos Islands (SA-004) as HC8N in the CQ/RJ Worldwide DX Contest (RTTY -
September 28-29). They will enter as a Multi/Multi category. PLEASE NOTE:
HC8N has a new QSL manager as of April 2002. Please QSL via W5UE.

08/28/2002:  Barry, ZS1FJ, reports he plans to be active (likely on 17 and
12 metres) as ZS23I from Cape Province South Coast Group (AF-077) on 28
September for one or two days. QSL via ZS1FJ.

08/30/2002:  Stephane, J28VS, will operate (on all HF bands SSB) as 3D2VS/p
from Rotuma (OC-060) between August 30th and September 5th and as 3D2VS from
Suva (OC-016), Fiji Islands September 6th to 11th. QSL via F6KHM either
direct or through the bureau.

08/31/2002:  Operators from ARI Imperia will be active as IK1AWV/p from the
Lighthouse at Porto Maurizio (WAIL LI-002, ARLHS ITA-118) August 31, in the
morning. QSL via IK1AWV either direct or through the bureau.

08/31/2002:  The "QLF DX TEAM" will be active from Market Reef (EU-053)
August 31st through September 9th. They have applied for the OJ0LA callsign
from the Finnish PTT. Operators are: LA5UKA, LA6YEA, LA8SDA, LA9VDA and
OJ0/LB1NE. OH0RJ has been invited to join them. Operations will be on
CW/SSB, maybe some RTTY and on all bands 160-10 meters with special
attention paid to high and low bands. QSL OJ0LA to LA9VDA. For direct QSL,
please send a SASE + 1 IRC or 2 USD. QSL OJ0/LB1NE via CBA. QSL OJ0RJ via

09/2002:  Ken, G3OCA, will be going to the Philippines in September to
activate the Calamian group (OC-090) and the Cuyo Islands (OC-120) as
DU1/G3OCA and the Sarangani Islands (OC-175) as DU9/G3OCA. He will operate
CW and SSB with 100 watts to either a 3-element yagi or a multiband
vertical. Exact dates will be given nearer departure time. QSL via G3OCA

09/01/2002:  Bruno, IC8JAH/p, reports he plans to be active from Scoglio
Monacone (EU-031, IIA NA-012) on 40 metres September 1, 2002. QSL via CBA.

09/01/2002:  Look for Marco, IK1YED/p, to be active September 1, 2002,
during the Weekend of the Italian Castles. He will be QRV at the following
locations: Castello di Pontinvrea (DCI reference SV-104 for the Italian
Castles Award) and Forte Lodrino Inferiore di Giovo Ligure a Pontinvrea (DCI
reference SV-165). Both castles are located in Liguria Region, Province of

09/03/2002:  Look for OZ/DL6LZM to be active from Fyn Island (EU-172, FY-001
for the Danish Islands Award) between September 3rd and 6th. QSL via home
call.

09/05/2002:  JO1EPY/6 will once again to be active from Tokara Island
Kuchinoshima (AS-049) between September 5th and 8th. Look for him on 6, 10,
12, 15, 17 and 40 meters SSB and CW. QSL direct (Hiroshi Kotoku, 3-4-19
Kishimachi Kawagoe City, Saitama 350-1131 Japan) or via JARL bureau.

09/05/2002:  Alex/UR4LUG, Oleg/UR3IFD, Leo/UT2II and Vit/UX7IM will be
active as EM5UIA from Kosa Tuzla Island (EU-180) September 5 to 10, 2002.
They plan to operate on 20-10 metres SSB, CW and RTTY with beam and vertical

09/07/2002:  Look for M/DK1RF to be active from the English Islands Group
(EU-120) September 7 to 13, 2002. QSL via home call.

09/07/2002:  The Radio Amateur Society of Norwich, N1NW, will be active
between 10:00 UTC September 7 to 16:00 UTC September 8 from New London Ledge
Lighthouse (ARLHS USA-542). The lighthouse is located in New London County,
New London harbor, New London, CT. Frequencies: 7.270, 14.270, 21.370 and

09/07/2002:  Look for OZ/DL6LZM to be active from Enehoeje Island (EU-029,

09/09/2002:  A team of ARI Taranto operators (IJ7/I7XUW, IJ7/IK7BPV,
IJ7/IZ7AUH, IJ7/IK7AFM, IJ7/IZ8AJQ, IJ7/IW7BVY, IJ7/IK7MJA, IJ7/IGFS,
IJ7/IZ8DBJ, IJ7/IK7WDS, IJ7/IK7NYD, IJ7/IK7FFX, IJ7/I7YYZ, IJ7/IK7MCJ and
IJ7/IZ7EUC) to be active from Isola San Pietro (IOTA EU-073, IIA TA-002),
