many bands as Terry has antennas for. He's got a couple of towers (which
probably creates a hazard for the golfers on the course he lives
alongside!), with beams and other assorted antennas. I'll take my keyer
along but am a notoriously poor CW op!" He expects to be signing KH6/K6IPV

QSL INFO AND NEWS.................
   K1B QSL UPDATE/CHANGE. Roman Thomas, RZ3AA (K1B, K5K, 3D2CI etc.),
reports, "I completely understand the problems that many of you are
having getting the SSB K1B QSL cards. I feel bad for each of you who
have still not received your QSL card. Unfortunately the mail situation
in my country certainly has room for improvement. In hindsight it was
probably not a good choice to use a Russian QSL address." Roman explains
he processed more than 3000 direct QSL requests that were returned
direct and has received more than 1000 bureau QSL cards that have all
been sent back via the bureau. However, he has received about 300
direct QSL card requests which were already opened and were missing IRCs
or postage money, these have been answered via the bureau. Also, he has
received at least 200 E-mail requests asking for status on specific
cards which never arrived. Roman suspects many more card requests
were lost somewhere in the mail system. To date, Roman still receives
about 20 direct requests per week, all being returned direct. If you
would like to pick up a K1B SSB QSL card in person, Roman will be at
Dayton this year and he is prepared to hand out cards there. Watch
for an announcement. --- OR --
Due to Roman's mail situation a new QSL route has been announced.
If you worked K1B using "SSB ONLY", QSL requests can now be sent to
   K4YL (ex-W4SMG) to the following address: Stephen M. Grose, P.O.Box 183,
Flat Rock, North Carolina 28731-0183. Please include the following:
     1) Your QSL Card indicating Time in GMT, Date, Band, Mode and Report.
     2) A Self Addressed Envelope (SAE) with all necessary addressing
        information (USA send SASE).
     3) One Green Stamp (preferred) or One Large IRC is accepted.
Please make sure the envelope contains the three items shown above.
"NO" Bureau cards will be accepted. Please send Bureau cards via Roman,
RZ3AA, via the Russian Bureau. All cards will be processed in the order
they are received. PLEASE send ONLY SSB cards. Depending on the demand,
some delay might result if additional cards have to be printed. All CW
and Digital requests are to be sent to Hrane, YT1AD. Any questions
can be E-mailed to Stephen, K4YL at: [EMAIL PROTECTED]

As of February 1, 2003, Kim, daughter of Steve, N3SL, is the QSL Manager
for "J", VY1JA, and Les, KL7J. She is handling all of the VY1JA cards
EXCEPT for Japan, which remain with Akio, JA3JM. QSL direct (SASE or
USD) or bureau. QSLs for KL7J are via direct ONLY (to Kim). The logs
of both of these active stations can be searched at:
                  http://www.qsl.net/n3sl/manager.htm
QSL instructions are listed there also.

Oscar, HK6DOS, informs OPDX that due to the high cost of the mail in
Colombia, all QSL cards for HK6DOS (via direct and bureau) must be
sent to EA5KB, his QSL Manager.

Luis, HK6PSG, informs OPDX that due to the high cost of the mail in
Colombia, all QSL cards for HK6PSG (via direct and bureau) must be
sent to EA5OL, his QSL Manager.

Vasilij, RW6HS, informs OPDX that he is NOT the QSL Manager for ER100
and ER3DX. However, he is the QSL Manager for the following special
   Kazakhstan callsigns: UO60SB, UP57EX, UP58EX and UQ1EDX.

Paul, K1XM, reports that the S9MX/S9CR cards arrived from the printer
last Wednesday (January 22nd). Charlotte, KQ1F, has answered all requests
received, probably around 1500 cards. Most were mailed the morning
of January 27th, the rest were to go into the mail the following day.

Luis, XE2AC, informs OPDX that he has a new QSL Manager. QSL all cards
for XE2AC and 6J2AC now via Paco, EA5OL.

Ken, ZL4HU, announced:"Please be patient regarding the issue of ZL7C
QSL Cards. We HAVE received the cards from Vertex Standard (formerly
Yaesu) and we are presently working on these. A mail out date will be
advised within the next few days. PLEASE and I say again PLEASE DO NOT
send 2nd QSL Card requests. We have already received some and these
are causing further delays in processing....... Many thanks and keep
an eye out for the release of the QSL information for ZL7C."

SV/A, MOUNT ATHOS. Monk Apollo, SV2ASP/A, has been active over the past
week on 40 and 10 meters CW (Yes CW!). Stateside QSNs show him on 7005
kHz after 0030z and as late as 0207z, as well as 28022 kHz between
1315-1415z. Europe reported him on 14022 kHz. Kostas, SV1DPI, states
Monk Apollo is expected to be active also on SSB and RTTY. Veronica,
W6/IK3ZAW, reports that Monk Apollo told her he has made several attempts
(during his free time) to work U.S. stations on different bands, but his
reception is very poor from his area. Good openings do not usually coincide
with his free hours which he can spend on the radio. However, he reassured
Veronica that he shall keep on trying. QSL only direct to one of the two
following addresses:
