That's still an issue in trusty, discussing it on IRC mhr3 told me to
check the filters ... and only "help" was activated in there?!

Some extra comments/though:

- that was not only a configuration issue, the dash is working after
login and those issues appear mid-session, if the filter was wrong it
would always be empty...

- the filters are not always respected (typing something and hitting
"esc" is giving me a full dash when it should not if it was respecting
the filter)

I changed my filters to activate applications today so I'm not sure what the
config was, I'm going to watch if I can still reproduce

Title:
sometimes the dash home list "no result matching your query" string

Bug description:
That's happening in saucy in my current session:

  - open the dash, I get an empty screen with the "no result matching
the query" string (the wording is not exact, I'm using a french locale
  and doing the approximate translation)

  - type something, results get listed

  - type backspace a few times to clear the entry, apps get listed

  <repeat>

sometimes clearly the query (either with backspace or esc) leads to
  the empty screen again
