saviq, just to be explicit, currently this is not exposed via the indicator (I think that is what you meant by 'meant' :).
kgunn72, I agree-- while from the greeter I can access the sound indicator, its ease of use for this use case is somewhere between a passcode-less swipe of the greeter (since I have to do a fine-motor swipe down as opposed to a general right to left swipe) and having to enter a passcode in the greeter. I think relying solely on the indicator would not fully address the use case I described (driving), so abbreviated events makes sense. I'm not sure what the abbreviated flow of events would look like, but whatever it is, ideally it wouldn't require having to do extra precision gestures. On a related note, right now (ie, going through the greeter to get to the media player) once I get to the player, I have to do precision taps to do what I want-- if we are going the indicator route, hopefully we will have quite large buttons to do this (I can imagine 3: play/pause toggle, back and forward). -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of DX Packages, which is subscribed to indicator-sound in Ubuntu. I use my phone to play music on random while I'm driving. This works great except when I want to advance or pause the song, where I have to go through the greeter first to access the player. This can either take my attention away from driving or I need to wait until the next stop light to advance the song. This is less of a concern when the greeter can just be swiped with one gesture, but is a big concern if you enable the passcode lock where you have to add the passcode to access the player. If the music is playing, the greeter should allow rudimentary manipulation of the music, eg, pause/play and forward/back. Other platforms seem to allow for this (eg android).
