You have been subscribed to a public bug:
modifying the gconf key "apps/notify-osd/gravity" while notify-osd is
running will properly change the location where notifications appear.
However, if the key is set to the non-default value (2), and notify-osd
is restarted, it remains at the default location until the gconf key is
changed while it is running.
