Title: notify-osd not started in unity Status in “notify-osd” package in Ubuntu: Fix Released Bug description: maverick alpha2 image (live and installed version) doesn't start the notify-osd daemon by rather the older notification system. When trying to start /usr/lib/notify-osd/notify-osd, I get: Another instance has already registered org.freedesktop.Notifications Could not register instance Something seems to trigger directly the old notification method which runs the race for dbus registration.
