[1] Currently, Application Indicators work as icons which provide a regular menu on click. This change was done due the fact that users should not get distracted by suddenly opening fullscreen applications or because opening an application on click was implemented either by left or right click. I understand the concerns and decision made. However, new applications like Chrome's Google Now Notifications provide a custom-styled dialog, which on Ubuntu just don't work right, because of the limitations. Windows, Chrome OS and Mac OS X got it right. On Ubuntu you have to click on the indicator icon, then on the menu item "chrome notifications" and then the indicator reloads and the dialog is presented. [2,3] I would like to raise my voice and eventually to make you reconsider the design decisions taken. I would like to have more of an conversation about this particular topic, since there is still time for Unity 8 on the desktop.
