The indicators aren't really designed to be used in osx-style docks like
this, but really this looks like it's an issue with the icon theme
you're using not replacing enough icons. Not sure that this can really
be considered a bug in the indicator itself.

Bug description:
Using Cairo-Dock, grey printer indicator seems like drowned in grey
background. Attached file is a screenshot that shows printer indicator
on top of active LibreOffice worksheet.
Perhaps that indicator could be made more colorful?
