Restarting nm-applet fixes it for me every time. Just to be clear about the issue:
WIFI works fine from a fresh boot, and after resume from suspend, it connects to any automatically configured network. Problem (Issue): 1-After resume, nm-applet (network indicator) icon does one of the following randomly every time: a- shows a wired connection icon. b- shows no connection icon. In both cases (1-a or 1-b), 3- the wifi is connected and working. I Confirmed using a web browser. 4- the list doesn't show available wifi networks or the current connected network. It shows a "disconnect" button though The main problem is that I cannot connect to a different wifi-network due to issue (4). And if for some reason I lost connection, I cannot reconnect. restarting "network-manager.service" doesn't fix the issue for me. Fix for me: Restart nm-applet. I used the following method: 1- run gnome-system-monitor. 2- in the processes tab, look for (nm-applet). 3- select it and press "End Process" 4- confirm "End Process" in the dialog. 5- start a terminal (Ctrl+Alt+T) or press (Alt+F2) 6- type in "nm-applet" and enter after the fix, the network-indicator shows the correct icon and signal strength for wifi. & in the list, I could see all available wifi connections. I don't know how to do that.... yet. Please let me know if more information is missing as this is my first entry, and I'll add how to restart (nm-applet) automatically once I find out how to, Basem. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of DX Packages, which is subscribed to indicator-applet in Ubuntu. Matching subscriptions: dx-packages https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1575655 Title: the network indicator shows the wrong status Status in indicator-applet package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Bug description: Description: Ubuntu 16.04 LTS Release: 16.04 indicator-applet: Installed: (none) Candidate: 12.10.2+15.04.20141127.2-0ubuntu1 Version table: 12.10.2+15.04.20141127.2-0ubuntu1 500 500 http://se.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu xenial/universe amd64 Packages The network indicator sometimes shows the icon for wired connections and sometimes claims wifi without connection even though I'm consistently connected over wifi. I don't mean to say that it switches between these two or that always is wrong. But sometimes my connected to wifi symbol changes to wired. Other times it will change to the no connection wifi. The info is correct on boot, but switches over time, possibly after suspension.
