Current notify-osd 0.9.6 is what I've running on three different systems
with instant response to volume (brightness is not hooked up on my
machines). One is an i945, one an i965 and on a GeForce 8800GTS. All run
compiz and the feedback for me hitting the VolumeUp/Down keys on my
keyboard is instantaneous. Can you please update your system to the
latest versioin of notify-osd (and compiz and xorg-video-intel driver)
and recheck this issue of yours and report back here your findings.

Bug description:
This problem came with the latest updates, it takes a second for the progress
bar to move after the change has been made.
This worked fine before.
