I appreciate technical reasons for not fixing the bug. Still I think that in the long run the MI should probably not seat between the volume/network/battery/date indicators. ATM the space to the left of these feels most natural, mainly because you're less likely to notice the icon state change if it's squeezed between two or three other icons. That said, I'm not implying it should be always on the far left. Subject for the separate discussion I guess.
