Hi Jamu Thanks for the bug report. I'm going to mark it wontfix because the issues you raise are directly addressed in the notification pieces. I'd ask you to add the pidgin-libnotify plugin to your setup and configure it as you please, it works very well. We specifically don't want the messaging menu to flash on message receipt. As for the behaviour between mail, IM and other apps, that is configured app-by-app. So, for example, you should be able to tell your mail client not to use the messaging menu at all if you don't want it to.
