After further investigation I am certain this is a compiz-bug and not
notify-osd's fault. The same background "flashing through" happens for
the screensaver-unlock dialog popping up as well, which is totally
unrelated to notify-osd. This shows the exact same behaviour of the
fullscreen window covering the whole desktop and briefly disappearing
and reappearing again.

Bug description:
As in topic, playing a movie in fullscreen works on jaunty, but if some
notification is displayed or progress bar is shown (when moving mouse, for
example) wallpaper briefly shows, then disappears.
