Back in the bad, old, bandwidth-limited days of the Internet, people would frequently request replies direct and offer to summarize the result for the list. I think a lot depends on the nature of the request. If someone is looking for the e-mail address of Joe Ham, or wants to know whether a given URL is still good, there's little point in having that sent to the whole list. When it's something of general interest but purely factual in nature, I think it would be appropriate to send it direct but expect the recipient to post it to the list as soon as he's verified it's correct. That would stop us seeing 30 different messages all giving the URL for Buckmaster. On the other hand, when someone is asking for advice or opinions, I think it's useful to have the full diversity of opinion on the list. Just my opinion, worth what you paid for it... 73, Pete N4ZR Check out the World HF Contest Station Database at www.pvrc.org
