What you do depends on what format you want the file. If you want an ADIF format you first set a filter for the dates included (after you enter the first date a window opens to let you enter the second date). Then go to Import/Export, select ADIF, then File/Export and give it a descriptive file name. It will ask you if you want to use the filter in place, answer yes and your file will be saved.
If you want a different file format, just select it from the menu before you export. Let me know if this is not complete enough.
